The thing I liked about the computer lab assignment was that it gave me the chance to review famous poetry.I like this assignment because it helps me learn how to use the computer. I also learned how to find the web site because I never really searched on the web before. --Chris Sinn, student, Santa Teresa H.S.

This computer assignment made it easy for me to find words out, know certain quotations of famous authors and easily find research for book reports and essays. Learning about the browser helps me get into things and will help me out for future references. --Mike Cunningham, student, Santa Teresa H.S.

A Short Speech  by Jennifer Testa

Many sayknowledge  is power, and that knowledge  is the most important thing in life. Buthappiness, love, and family should come first. What good is knowledge  if you have no one to share it with? Love  is the most powerful feeling anyone can ever feel, remember to keep it as number one in your heart.

WHAT TEACHERS HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE PROJECT

"What's new at Santa Teresa High School? Come see what teacher, Ed Grant, has put together! Via a cutting edge educational application of web based instruction, Mr. Grant takes students through a study of quotations, to word studies, to literary applications, and on to public speaking. The assignment is fun. It is innovative. It is student centered. It is interactive. It is research made to satisfy students' curiosity. It is something for which we at Santa Teresa are proud."

--Laura Gschwend, Department Chair, English, Santa Teresa H.S.

"Have read through Ed Grant's Internet lesson and I would gladly use it in my ninth-grade English classes. One activity I have done with my classes is a mini-research project. Each student chooses an abstract noun such as 'truth,' 'justice,' or 'joy' and looks that word up in a number of resources. The student must find multiple definitions for that word, must find quotes including that word, and must find poetry which either includes that word or is about the concept. They must also create a visual rendition of that word. Ed's lesson would provide some wonderful links for my students.

I enjoy having my students include Internet research in their project but the time it takes to develop a good lesson for the Internet makes that activity problematic. It is so much easier to fall back on the 'tried and true.' I am thrilled at what Ed has done because he has created a lesson that can be used across the curriculum."

--Nancy Schwalen, English Teacher, Santa Teresa H.S.
